I have an iPhone and two iPads. All show properly in my Mac's Finder
sidebar when connected by cable to my Mac.

But one iPad continues to show there even when all iOS devices are
disconnected and asleep.

How can I get that iPad to not show when not connected?

It's probably still showing up because you have enabled WiFi
connectivity (by setting the "Show this device when on Wi-Fi" in the
Finder window when the device is selected in the sidebar).

Otherwise, things like this can also happen when your router is
misbehaving and needs a reboot.

Yup, the "show when on Wi"Fi" box was ticked. Disabled it and....fixed!
Thanks.

Turn off wifi syncing.

Well, if by fixed you mean "broken", sure. The better solution would be
to turn it ON on all your devices.

My question is why does it bother you if it's in the sidebar?
