What are alternatives to SCA1?

DVD has a file just called KNOPPIX, not .img

What CD settings does knoppix 4 (Quantian 0.7.9.2) require? ie UEFI ATA SATA
PCI and so on? THis is a dell vostro 3560 where I have already successfully
loaded XP and DOS. XP was upset until I changed UEFI to Legacy and SATA to
ATA. I am convinced this is where my knoppix can't fine filesystem problem
lies. I tried booting from USB using voytro and it crashed.

What if I copy KNOPPIX (.img) to the hard drive, will it boot??

Unlikely, unless you happen to have a motherboard with a bios or uefi
that understands how to boot from a .img file. Note it is very
unlikely your motherboard knows how to boot from an .img file.

No. You just copied the image.

You can write it with dd instead.

Or if Windows, I heard good things about a program called Etcher. But I
believe only on USB sticks and SD cards.
