FF 82.0.2. Turn off FF, turn off computer. Next morning some of my
tabs are gone. This seems to have started a few months ago, but maybe
longer. Probably no solution, I'm just wondering if it's common.

Not sure. I haven't used FF 82 in some time. Why did you settle upon
that version?

I've been a 'tab hoarder' for years, never noticed them closing by
themselves, occasionally I have a purge, though I'm always running
current version.

I got tired of losing capability, extensions that were valuable to me,
etc. I suppose I could have gone back a few versions, but I'm lazy. I
run Nightly completely separate with a minimal set of extensions and
personalizations, so I'm not completely out of date :-)

Annoyance about Nightly: I chose a theme for legibility of menu bars.
Unfortunately, each time I open FF I starts out with the menus etc.
black on dark green. Supposedly the desired theme is enabled. I
disable it and re-enable it and then it looks OK. This happens with a
number of different themes. Aside from that it seems OK. I like 82
better, though.

Why do you think someone could help you with FF 82?
Currently we stand at 118.

Your browser is so old that I assume that the underlying OS is already
shaky. The release must have been fall 2020.

In addition security of an 82 is a disaster!

Slackware 14.2. Computer was built in 2011. High-end stuff at the
time. Tried to update one of the partitions, but after 10 hours we gave
up. I believe there is SOMETHING weird in the machine (Fry's
components), but it works and the idea of doing a major overhaul is more
than I can bear.

What violations do I need to look for? I check the logs for mysterious
connections every once in a while. So far nothing.

There was a ring of tab thieves in NY and NJ. If you don't live in
those states, they might have spread out (after 3 were caught and
convicted.).

They used to keep their stolen tabs in the trunks of junk cars. The
owners of the junk yards knew which cars not to sell. You could look
there.

That actually makes sense, given that my Chrome also disappears while
it's actually running. You know, of course, that Chrome is really bad
for the environment and is in the process (or has been) of being banned
in Kalifornia. I would assume it's only the application, not Chrome's
actual existence. That would be stupid.
