This is the kind of game I'm looking for. However, not the brand. I've found Endless games clunky and unintuitive. Also, the reviews are mixed. Hopefully there will be more like this soon. With more available I should be able to find one I like.

What's good about rogue-lite is that there's enough space to breathe in. Don't have to spend hours running a tutorial, etcetera.

Hmm. I thought I played this, but it was Dungeon of the Endless.
Pretty much dime a dozen either way, until someone gives me a particular
reason to try a particular one, I'll leave it. Endless dungeon has
significantly worse reviews than Dungeon of the Endless, and I still
didn't like DotE.

I haven't played Endless Dungeon, but neither "Endless Space" nor
"Endless Legend" ever engaged me enough to stick with them. I barely
remember them except as 'something I didn't enjoy'.

33% isn't enough of a discount to attract me anyway. What can I say;
I'm cheap. Gimme 90% off and then we'll talk. ;-P

Are the Endless games considered rogue-likes? "Space" and "Legend"
were more strategy games. Well, maybe "Endless Dungeon" is different.

(Looking at the Steam page, it does seem a significant change in genre
for the brand. Honestly, it looks like a modernized version of "Space
Siege"... which doesn't bode well, since that game wasn't very good
either)

I'm not big into 'rogue likes', so coming up with one I enjoyed is
hard. I think the closest I can come up with that's fairly modern was
"Generation Zero"... although that was very rough around the edges
too, and arguably isn't even a rogue-like. But it had giant robots to
smash, so it wasn't all bad.
