Inside joke for those who have tried Windows 11.

HTG has a cartoon in their Sept 6 newsletter.
Go here, https://www.howtogeek.com/newsletter/
If it's not Sept 6, then click on the Sept 6 in the list on the left.
You can read all you want but the cartoon I'm referring to is pretty much at the end of the newletter.

So am I !!!

Windows 11 just killed my networked Okidata c5150n printer which I
spent half a day getting it to work last week, am trying much the same
setup as before but can't seem to get it to install and work no matter
how i try.

Again when I shut it down yesterday I got that "don't turn off your
computer Wwindows is working on updates" message, and today no printer.
so again some kind of update has screwed things up.

My view of Windows 11 is getting dimmer all the time, and its not vision
problems. :-(

Well, we'll just have to wait for the early
adopters to test the shit out of it for us.

You know there's a Powerpoint slide like this

+-----------+
...
...
Success
+-----------+

with some strategies for snatching victory
from the jaws of defeat. And it only involves
a little bit of employees working overtime :-)

If you run a Linux live session, does the printer work without you
requiring to do anything?

If so, perhaps it is a better choice for you going forward.

You're still using a pre-release version. In my opinion, opinions on
Windows 11 should wait until it's released.

Yes, Your right, the final release may fix the problem so I will wait

With M$, the prerelease is what everyone else calls
"alpha code". The General Release is what everyone
else calls "Beta code" and Service Pack 1 is what
everyone else calls "General Release".

So we are in Alpha stage right now. Alpha code
in general sucks.

Miracles still happen, after fighting with Win 11 most of yesterday to
get my OKI printer to work, with no luck. This morning I fired up Win 11
to try some more drastic measures so I went to the add printer page and
saw my printer as installed!!!!

So scribbled a note in notepad and hit print and it *PRINTED*!!!!! I
could hardly believe my eyes so I loaded up a web page and hit Control P
and the page printed in Full glorious colour.

So "Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Clause"

Hi Rene,

I have an Oklidata B4350 and love it.

Some times with PCL printers, if Windows is giving
me a bad time, I just install generic PCL drivers.
HP and Okidata both have them somewhere on their
websites. I hae links to them somewhere if you
want them.

Be careful with the bad words too. Windows
is very vindictive and has a LONG memory and
is pretty sure his parents were actually married.

:'(

Be sure to turn off Fast Boot (Fast Start up)

-T

Yesterday it worked.
Today it is not working.
Windows is like that.

Have been using the same C51200GDEA.exe driver file since day 1, Am
sure glad it still works in Windows 11, The best printer I have ever
had, great colour and only 3 or 4 paper jams in 14 years, Besides I have
a full set of CYMK toner carts in stock. would hate to give that all up,
for an upgrade which I don't really like anyway, Windows 10 works great
for me.

Rene

fast start is always turnd off as soon as I can, useless piece of fluff.

was NOT funny. "pandering to the perception" is NOT funny.

(old dogs CAN learn new tricks, it's just that they don't want to WASTE
