If is recall you had a Canon scanner? Canon is one of the worst mfgr for
Linux support. I dumped my Canon and got an Epson Perfection V600 Photo
and is works better than my Canon 4200F anyway and working in both
Windows and Linux

But for previous poster for HP products, the hplip Toobox is the way to go.

l Well for someone in Linux must have access to admin rights or some admin
give specific rights for some process to install anything on Linux. That
is a "Good Think" ™. For the latest hplip Toolbox script to run call,
must be call by someone in sudo|adm group. You run the script without
sudo, but supply password as the prompt. backing keep hitting RETURN for
default "y" works for most applications...not that difficult.

Sorry, typo. I hated 8.0 when it came out. I got a pre-release version (so there may have been tons of bugs) but with that horrible push
button menu it was horrible. But as said, after a while and 8.1 came out and 3rd party menus etc 8.1 was good. I use it for a lot and
enjoyed getting away from win 7. It also paved the way for going to windows 10 which IMHO wasn't that far off.
