That's not safety, that's efficiency. Having to dodge everything coming towards you and decide who goes where lowers the possible speed you can go at.

What's irrational about it? Why should we worry about the 4th biggest killer, and one which is temporary? Oh no, lets make it worse by shutting everything down.

Being fully vaccinated may not help me. The medical facilities here are
jammed to over capacity by 99% non-vaccinated Covid patients. If I need
any non-Covid emergency help I may not get it in time...

It is the non-vaccinated who are, by and large, ending up in the hospital (for
Covid).

It is safety. You are doing what the government tells you to make things
safer. You are taking common sense safety precautions to protect yourself and
others.

Why make the exception with Covid?

Easier to dodge a car you can see than a virus you cannot.

And if I drive on the left and ignore red lights you have not right to insist
I am safe, right?

Again: you pretend this is about you and only you. That is a fiction. Your

It ignores the number of people getting sick and dying. It ignores the trauma
of our medical personnel. It pretends that human life does not matter. Of
course, that seems to be your basic assumption.

Nope. I am noting it is not all about you... your harm to others is about
others as much as it is about you.

You insist you have special entitlements to risk others needlessly.

They'd get vastly more profits if they didn't have half their space occupied by waiting customers.

Well it looks ok when I read your post, and in this reply I'm writing now. How does it look when you view it?

And I think you're looking at the wrong things, changing font won't cause a problem with letters, it's the symbols that are different in different ASCII sets.

He's very quiet now with just him and his girlfriend in the room, maybe he was angry or declaring territory.

He comes over to see me when I walk in, pretends to want to play, then bites me at the first opportunity.

Yeah alledgedly she got it wrong, I dunno. I've looked it up and apparently it's just something being the opposite of what it should or intended to be. Eg. a seatbelt causing some to be strangled in an accident.

Bollocks. It does not prevent you catching it. It tells your body how to fight it off. While you're fighting it off, you're carrying it and spreading it. In fact it's worse, since you don't suffer, you don't realise you have it, and you mix with more people, and you're cluelessly thinking you can't have it.

That is what the evidence shows.

Nor did I say it did. I noted that it reduces your chance of getting it.

You can be... but if you are it is generally for less time (current numbers
are about five days, though we might get newer info).

How do you figure? Again, your "common sense" is contrary to the evidence.

One: it is unlikely she did. No offense but that is so unbelievably rare it
would be in the news. But if she did react that poorly to her body fighting
off the disease when she did not even have it, imagine how poorly should would
have done if she got it without the vaccine!

So if there are two causes of death that kill 30% and 29% of the
population, you should just ignore the one that causes 29%?

We DO worry about the biggest, and we do a lot to stop people dying from
heart disease and cancer.

Right. I agree you saw no reason. That, of course, does not imply there would
be a reason it would work, or even that Apple would not go out of their way to
stop that machine from working with updates.

I would love for their to be a cheaper tool that serves me a well. It is not
about my having a "different" tool but one that serves me better.

Unsupported claim. Macs tend to be used by higher end users who buy more
software and use them in many fields. Of course, given how the low end of Macs
is not nearly as low end as it is for Windows, Linux, or ChromeOS, it makes
sense that it would be richer folks buying them on average.

I've lost count the number of times I've sat next to my colleagues
tearing their hair out because Windows (or some other aspect) has failed
yet again, while I calmly carry on with work on my Mac.

There's no incompatibility. I can use 99% of the software everyone else
does.

Nope. You should seee the number of Macs within the scientific
communities, particularly the biological sciences.

They are also extensively used by professionals in the film and music
industries who want things that work reliably, are solid and don't get
in the way.

Yup. The Mac *tends* to pay for itself many times over in not dealing with
such frustrations and lost productivity (which is not to say Macs are problem
free -- they are not).

> There's no incompatibility. I can use 99% of the software everyone else

And much of the software that works on both works better on the Mac.
Photoshop, for example, has Mac-only features. This includes the system-wide
color selector and, at least in older version of Photoshop, better drag and
drop capabilities.
