That is why you have peer review and replication.

Person 1: It is common sense to do A.
Person 2: It is common sense to do B.

Then each insists their common sense is right. In such situations let's use
evidence.

You just insist you are right and call it common sense, regardless of
evidence. You use the phrase as a way to ignore evidence and logic and reason.
In short: you know you have no support.

That risks are measured that way. To complain about how risks are measured
without an alternative or counter is not of benefit.

We know that vaccines and masks reduce the risk of getting Covid, and of
spreading it, considerably.

It certainly does protect you! Do you think the hospitals are jammed
with vaccinated people? It's almost entirely UNvaccinated folks.

I saw an article this morning about -- I think it was a school system,
but I'm not going to try to find it -- that is requiring that either
their employees get vaccinated OR get tested every two weeks (IIRC)
and pay a surcharge on their health insurance. Makes sense to me. Why
should I, who have protected myself against the disease, pay for your
hospitalization when you have left your self vulnerable? You have put
yourself into a higher-risk category and you should accept the
consequences.

What's ridiculous is that you don't see how idiotic your description is.

Only 99.99% of people survive so it's clearly a death sentence.

Thanks for confirming my previous statement.

Allowing ppl to die unnecessarily is not evolution, it's cruel.

Overly simplistic. There's a huge age and sex dependence so for a 40 yo
male the mortality rate is higher. If there are any other health issues,
then there's additional risks. There's also a 20% risk of hospitalisation,
which is not painless.

I'm not suggesting that getting COVID is going to necessarily be easy,
but we all need to stop treating a positive diagnosis as something
terrible. For one, they have admitted that their test kits are worthless
and that testing positive doesn't actually mean that the person has
COVID. Secondly, while it's not a walk in the park, most people get
through it and get back to normal in days, weeks or months... but they
do go back to normal. Third, we KNOW that getting vaccinated does not
prevent you from getting an infection, from infecting others or from
dying. It _might_ lessen the symptoms, but it also seems to increase the
viral load that individual carries which seems to be why "fully
vaccinated" places like Israel are struggling with an increase in
infections. One thing is for sure though: all of us will get infected at
some point or another and it would be foolish to think that modern
medicine will be able to protect us from the hundreds of variants that
are coming or the several hundred that are already in the wild.

Either way, it might be a good idea to hear what this virologist has to
say on the matter:

He's been quite poorly too.

My daughter and their children have also been tested positive and been
somewhat under the weather.

Get yourself jabbed! Or are you AFRAID?

false. covid tests are *very* accurate. the chance of a false positive
pcr test is *extremely* low.

> Secondly, while it's not a walk in the park, most people get

not true. roughly a third to half have long term symptoms, depending on
the study, plus being in the hospital for weeks or months is not in any
way fun, nor are the medical bills that will follow.

it's *much* better to avoid it in the first place.

onavirus-long-term-effects/art-20490351>
COVID-19 symptoms can sometimes persist for months. The virus
can damage the lungs, heart and brain, which increases the risk of
long-term health problems.
....
Although COVID-19 is seen as a disease that primarily affects the
lungs, it can damage many other organs as well. This organ damage
may increase the risk of long-term health problems. Organs that may
be affected by COVID-19 include:

ย€ Heart. Imaging tests taken months after recovery from COVID-19
have shown lasting damage to the heart muscle, even in people who
experienced only mild COVID-19 symptoms. This may increase the
risk of heart failure or other heart complications in the future.
ย€ Lungs. The type of pneumonia often associated with COVID-19
can cause long-standing damage to the tiny air sacs (alveoli) in the
lungs. The resulting scar tissue can lead to long-term breathing
problems.
ย€ Brain. Even in young people, COVID-19 can cause strokes, seizures
and Guillain-Barre syndrome ย‹ a condition that causes temporary
paralysis. COVID-19 may also increase the risk of developing
Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease.

Some adults and children experience multisystem inflammatory syndrome
after they have had COVID-19. In this condition, some organs and
tissues become severely inflamed.

> Third, we KNOW that getting vaccinated does not
> prevent you from getting an infection, from infecting others or from
> dying.

false. we *do* know that vaccines are *highly* effective for all of
that (and more).

nothing is perfect in this world, so it's not 100% but very close to it.

> It _might_ lessen the symptoms,

it *does* lessen the symptoms, to where it's mild enough that it's
usually treatable at home, versus being hospitalized.

some vaccinated people do end up hospitalized but they rarely go into
intensive care. had they not been vaccinated, it's likely they would
have gone to icu and quite possibly not made it out alive.

> but it also seems to increase the
> viral load that individual carries

nope. that is false.

most people who are vaccinated do not get infected, however, *if*
someone does, their viral load can be comparable to someone who was not
vaccinated. that is not unusual. since they have been vaccinated, it's
doesn't last as long as it otherwise would have.

> which seems to be why "fully
> vaccinated" places like Israel are struggling with an increase in
> infections.

nope. that's not why, nor are they struggling. it's more disinformation.

> One thing is for sure though: all of us will get infected at
> some point or another

also false.

however, of those who do get infected, those who are vaccinated will
fare much better than those who are not.

> and it would be foolish to think that modern
> medicine will be able to protect us from the hundreds of variants that
> are coming or the several hundred that are already in the wild.

there aren't 'hundreds of variants'.

that's actually an incredibly bad idea.

his comments are completely false or highly misleading. he is
regurgitating the same old myths.

In reality, Dr. Dan Stockยนs 6-minute speech to the Mount Vernon

loaded with falsehoods about the disease and the vaccines used to
fight it.
