Anyone know where & how ftp, telnet & a browser
for use on a freebsd system can be
found? Even better would be freebsd
active on a usb stick with ftp, telnet & a
browser.

The ports collection has plenty of FTP clients,
browsers,and telnet applications.

Just go into the right /usr/ports subdirectory,
pick ones you want,and type "make install" and
it will be made installed.

The telnetd deprecation in the recent releases
means you have to add it from ports,in older
releases it was part of the base system.

Note that only telnet*d* was removed from the base system.
In 2023, there are few realistic use cases for running the
telnet daemon.

The telnet client still ships with the FreeBSD base system.
